At Beautiful Turbulence, we create unique, science-inspired apparel that blends function, artistry, and durability. Rooted in our passion for turbulence science and wind energy, we strive to spark curiosity, spread knowledge, and further awareness of the science that inspires us.

It all started when I (Tony) was doing my Master’s at the University of Puerto Rico–Mayagüez in 2010, and I began learning about turbulence. I was immediately fascinated (and still am)! During that time, I wanted to buy a turbulence t-shirt, so I spent weeks looking for one. To my surprise, I couldn’t find anything close to what I had in mind. So I thought, why don’t I make one myself? And that was the start of Tony’s Geeky Shirts (now Beautiful Turbulence). I took simulation data I had generated and turned it into a cool t-shirt. I printed it and proudly wore it for many years.

While doing my PhD at Johns Hopkins University (JHU), I learned even more about turbulence and decided to launch the first online version of Tony’s Geeky Shirts in 2016. During this time, I discovered the Johns Hopkins University Turbulence Database and began using that data for my designs—a fantastic resource for studying and understanding turbulence.

My wife, Ramona, is also a scientist in physical chemistry and has a wonderful sense of design. She is behind all the cool chemistry-inspired creations in our store. She has added new designs, color maps, and beautiful turbulence-inspired patterns. I am Puerto Rican, and my wife is Lebanese. We are a family of four—Tony, Ramona, Lara, and our baby boy, Leon, the newest member of our multicultural family.

Over the years, we’ve worked on many products and designs and decided to expand Tony’s Geeky Shirts into what is now Beautiful Turbulence. We love science, and we love sharing our science-inspired products with you. We hope you’ll love them too!
